GPX (GPS Exchange Format) stores tracks, routes, and elevation — ideal for hiking apps and GPS devices. KML (Keyhole Markup Language) is Google's format, great for Earth visualizations but less universal for navigation.
Which to choose
- Sharing trail or bike routes → GPX
- Google Earth overlays → KML
- Garmin / phone navigation → GPX
